Hope 4 Helene

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Sunday Brunch!

Jenn brought over homemade brunch this morning and can that girl cook! How she was able to bake an egg casserole, make sausage bread and fruit salad- get herself and her 2 year old daughter -Addy- ready and out of the house by 9:30 is amazing to me! Her daughter is too cute- little sandals withy tights on- too bad she wasn't my door prize!

Tyler didn't have to eat a poptart for breakfast! What a great way to start our day. The fresh fruit salad was my favorite and something I can eat throughout the day. My tongue is so sensitive and sore right now from the chemo.

Tyler's team is in the semi finals tonight in his tournament- all dependent on the weather. They won't be able to play the championship game until later next week-as the tournament is at a minor league ball park and is being used. I think I will again have to pass on this game- with the cold temp., wind and possible rain and this being a "crappy feeling" day- it's me and the Desperate Housewives.

I have a busy week or 2 scheduled....foot dr. Mon, Tues I go to Edward's for my port, work on Wed., Th a CAT scan and Friday I am taking Linda for her scoping in her throat. The roles are reversed! I get to be the one driving Miss Dasiy. AND NO CHEMO!!

The following week An MRI, Radiologist appt, and on the 7th I see the dr. for the results of all of the testing.....keep your fingers and toes crossed!

please keep a special "Jen" in your prayers, too. She is a student of mine and is in the hospital and may have to have surgery- again. She has battled spina bifida all her life and is a real trooper.

Tia you crack me up!!!!!

and

ps YES I did have junk yesterday and it was really good. Tom, my bro-in-law brought Linda and I cheese and caramel corn popcorn fron Nuts on Clark and YES is is good and YES I did hide it from my boys! So YES I did have something healthy and something that I would not classify as junk becase it tasted soo good!

Guilty as Charged (but just a little....)

OK, so YES I did need a Portillo's Chopped Salad yesterday, and YES you did have chemo yesterday, and YES you normally fill up on junk so I thought a nice salad would balance things out. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it! ha ha

Hope your day today is going great and your salad made you feel full of energy!

Quote

re: the quote I just posted....it should say:

Hootie Hoo! What a Ride! (Karen's saying)

Chemo Factory

Linda and I wanted to go through the"drive thru" for chemo yesterday but no go...Great nurses- Linda brought them her special Milky Way Rice Krispie treats. Even Nurse Ratchet stopped by and tried to be pleasant.... The nurses were really on top of things and it seemed to go a little quicker.

Had a great surprise during chemo- Lynn B stopped by with her homemade ham and cheese mini sandwiches (yum) and her "reserved for kids only Rolly Pollies"!!!! She even let Dr. Kash have one! He had already had a Jimmy John's but he was eyeing those sandwiches! Get this- Lynn got up really early- and baked. Wow what a friend!

Now get this one- Tia seemed to have a real hankering for a Portillo's Chopped Salad....I think she kinda, a little- used Linda and I as her reasoning....and picked up three salads and what a great dinner I had! With great friends like this- and all the ones bringing over meals- I am going to gain a lot of pounds. Won't be able wear the thong bikini in FL at the end of May.... (HA!)

I have a great quote to share with you.....I got it off an email at COD and just changed one thing.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, beer in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "Woo Hoo!! What a ride!"<

I added the beer......

Hey HTFM!!

Just checking in to see how things are going and to let you know that you are in my thoughts....(Would have posted a comment this week but I had brain-fart and couldn't remember how to post! I just spent the last half hour trying everything!!

So glad to hear that your second opinion said you are on the right track! I hope that chemo went well today. And don't forget, if you need me to go with you sometime, give me a call!

Sandy

Thinking about you

Hi, Helene,

I am not used to this blogging stuff! But here is my message to you and the people helping you. I am so glad to read that you have people close to you taking care of you. And while you are all working hard each day to be personally supportive daily in each other's lives, I want you to know there are a whole group of other people cheering on your posse and praying and waiting to step in should you grow tired of being strong for each other. My friends are always in my heart and you have been at the forefront of my thoughts lately. I hope to see you soon so we can catch up! I just haven't even caught up with myself yet! Love ya! - Teri
